Mandela Day is a day dedicated to honoring the incredible legacy of Nelson Mandela, a beacon of hope, resilience, and equality. 

Mandela Day was initiated by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, which was established by Nelson Mandela himself in 1999. Mandela Day is observed on July 18th in South Africa each year to honor the legacy of Nelson Mandela and promote the idea that individuals have the power to make a positive impact in the world through acts of small service and kindness. It encourages people to dedicate 67 minutes of their time (representing the 67 years Nelson Mandela devoted to public service) to support their communities and contribute to the greater good.

This year VirtualResource has pledged to raise R67 000 in 67 days to support the following initiatives:

Piece by Piece Foundation – Calming Boxes packed with all the necessary sensory toys and food for underprivileged shelter children dealing with trauma as well as for children with special needs.

Support our nurses – Covid has pushed our frontline workers to the limit. Their continuous love, care and fight for our loved ones in this pandemic has put a strain on their mental and physical health, including their family’s lives. VirtualResource has committed to providing two meals per week for 11 nurses and their families. We also provide lunch twice a week for 200 nurses

Donate a food parcel – Although we continue to feed around 20 000 people a week, it is never enough. Funds raised will also go to our Feeding Thousands fund, so that we can bless more families with a food parcel. And spread the love!

Whether it’s lending a hand to those in need, volunteering at a local organization, or supporting a charitable initiative, your actions can ripple out and create positive change in our world. Let’s come together as a global community to inspire hope, encourage unity, and honor the principles of justice and equality.
