The Bra by Bra challenge, led by CKP (Check Know Prevent), is making powerful steps in raising breast health awareness among young girls across the Western Cape. Since kicking off their roadshow in February 2025, the team is now halfway through their journey to reach 5,000 girls by October — aligning with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Reaching Communities, One School at a Time
To date, the roadshow has visited 8 schools, reaching 1,921 girls with vital health education and support. The schools visited so far include:
Every visit begins on a positive and empowering note. Recognizing how tough and sensitive the topic of breast cancer can be, the team intentionally starts each event by lifting spirits, spreading energy, and reminding the girls just how strong and capable they are by doing a short Zumba session.

Health at the Heart of the Mission
Following the uplifting introductions, a registered nurse/s perform clinical breast exams — a crucial step in early detection and education. So far, 1,797 nurse checks have been conducted, leading to the identification of 57 abnormalities. This proactive approach could make all the difference in early diagnosis and care.

Support That Fits — Literally
The campaign also recognizes the physical needs of young girls by providing CKP sports bras. These bras have printed instructions on the inside to ensure the girls understand how to perform their own checks every month. To date, 1,877 bras have been donated, giving girls access to quality, comfortable support that encourages physical activity and promotes body confidence.

Backed by Purposeful Partnership
This impactful initiative is proudly sponsored by VirtualResource, whose continued support has enabled the team to reach 1,921 girls and counting. Their partnership reflects a shared belief in the power of education, health, and empowerment of youth.
As CKP continues its journey toward reaching 5,000 girls by October, the Bra by Bra campaign proves that conversations about health — even the difficult ones — can be life-changing when delivered with care, compassion, and courage.
Real numbers. Real girls. Real change.
